Knowing God - Is It Possible?

Daniel 11:32b - "But the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits."  It is quite impossible to get to know someone that we don’t spend time with!  When we court a mate we look for every opportunity to spend time with them. We go out of our way to make time for getting together!  We should far more desire to invest time being with God!  Some facts we all need to consider carefully are listed below.

1. None of us can know God completely!   His ways are past finding out  Romans 11:33

2. Paul asks; “Who has known the mind of the Lord or been his counselor” - Romans 11:34  It is absurd for the fiite mind to attempt
to understand the mind of God because his thoughts are far

greater and higher than ours!  Isaiah 55:8-9

3. Isaiah asks; “Who instructed him and taught him in the path of judgment - Isaiah 40:14 GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO POSSESSES ALL KNOWLEDGE, and since he does he cannot receive instruction from us or any other created being.
If there was on single iota of knowledge that he did not possess he would not be perfect, and if he wasn't perfect he would no longer be God.

It is not man that seeks after God but rather God who seeks men out and the convicting power

of the Holy Spirit then draws men to him.  John 6:44  After salvation we then begin to have a desire to be intimately connected to God and learn all we can about him, his word and his ways.  SADLY THIS SOMETIMES BECOMES A ROUTINE RATHER THAN A GREAT HUNGER AND THIRST FOR MANY CHRISTIANS!   Because of this our Christian life is far below the standard and far

short of the power and love that God would have us walk in.

It is impossible to know about God apart from divine revelation.
I Corinthians 2:14 tells us; “But  the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned.”  Notice this verse tells us that prior to gaining spiritual discernment we thought the things of God were foolishness.
I remember before coming to Christ that when others would come down the street with gospel tracts I would think they were weird and run away from them.  Our sinful nature apart from divine revelation cares nothing for the things of God.

Divine revelation comes to us at the point of salvation when our spiritually blind eyes are opened and our spirit that had been dead in sin and trespasses is suddenly quickened by the

power of God, and we have spiritual eyesight for the first time.  This defies all logic and rationale

of the human mind.  Even beyond salvation we will never know God as well as he knows himself, and we will never understand him completely because there is depth in God transcending man’s ability to comprehend.  He is infinite, and we are finite.  He's unlimited and we are limited.

He is perfect and pure and we are sinful by nature.  We will have to content ourselves with what he has chosen to reveal to us, and I believe that we will be given a forever increasing revelation through all the endless ages of eternity and yet we will never fully understand him.

We have sung with vigor in a convincing way, "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved

a wretch like me; I once was lost but now am found was blind but now I see."  May God open our eyes to even know in some small part how wonderful that grace is to us!  May he reveal to us the truth of this great hymn concerning our wretched condition and his generosity in desiring us at all!
